EFFECTIVE TRAUMA CARE

Accidents on the slopes can be severe. You will hugely benefit from bespoke guidance from a consultant specialist doctor so you can recover as quickly as possible.

It is vital that injuries are treated effectively from the start as this will impact your ability to return home, get back to work and ultimately plan a return to the slopes.

Via an initial video consultation the clinic will be able to:

  • Assess the care you have already received
  • Ensure you are following an injury-specific rehabilitation protocol
  • Organise upload of your x-rays and medical centre documents
  • Give you advice on the likely diagnosis and recovery times
  • Pre-book any required scans on return to the UK including MRI
  • Provide a clinic letter for you and your GP
  • Arrange ongoing care in the UK including surgery if required

KNEE

The most commonly injured joint in snow sports is the knee. Your knees will be constantly absorbing impact from the slope whilst supporting your body weight.

SHOULDER & ELBOW

The main cause of shoulder and elbow injuries is a fall where it is it’s natural to put your arms out to catch yourself. The impact of the fall travels through your arm and up into your elbow or shoulder.

ANKLE & FOOT

Despite often rigid foot and ankle protection in boots, injuries are common on the slopes. The majority of injuries are from rolling the foot and ankle placing tortional forces through ligaments.

HAND & WRIST

The first reaction to a fall is often to try and catch yourself with an outstretched hand. This sends forces through your hand and wrist with injuries dependent on the position of your fingers and angle of your wrist.
